Speaker and author Jerry Banks cuts through the motivational B.S. with tales from the trenches and simple tools to achieve your goals — in spite of your problems.
We’ve all got problems. Problems are everywhere.
If you don’t have problems, you’re not doing anything!
But instead of blaming yourself for them, cut yourself some slack.
The antidote to problems isn’t perfection. It’s persistence — staying focused on what really matters, not what happens to be on fire at the moment.
My signature talk, Fire Up Your Internal GPS, is the kick in the ass you need to get on your road to success and, more importantly, happiness.
I’ll share stories from my own improbable life and share the four Ds + 1 that guide me every day — and will keep you on track.
Dreams are more than just goals. They’re what draw the map to success that your heart can follow.
Every day, we have to choose to ignore the insidious distractions that keep us from our dreams.
What would it feel like to believe you can do anything — even when you’re in the gutter?
The power of showing up. Every day. (And why we make it harder than it should be.)
The secret to life lies somewhere between falling flat on your face and actually “making it” — resilience is getting up every time you fall.
If you’re looking for a rah-rah motivational speaker, keep looking.
If you’re looking for a dose of reality and real-world solutions, I might be your guy.
Relatable stories from my own imperfect life
Permission to dream for yourself
Tools to dial in and stick to your internal GPS
Prepare to keep getting up when you’re knocked down
Rags-to-riches fairy tales
Prescriptive, one-size-fits all advice
Empty motivation
Wondering why you don’t have everything figured out
I want to share with you the potholes and detours I’ve navigated through my life:
Barely graduating high school
A rocky start in business
A messy personal life
Raising two girls as a single dad
Nearly declaring bankruptcy…twice.
And I want to share how, through it all, somehow I wound up on top. Using the tools I’m going to share with you, you can too.
Shortly after I got my real estate license, a grizzled industry pro sat down next to me at the local diner and shared one piece of advice:
“Kid, your success in real estate depends upon how much shit you can eat on a daily basis and keep on smiling.”
I soon found out what he meant, that the only way I could move forward was to get up when I got knocked down. And I got knocked down a lot.
The stories in my first book, Eat Shit & Smile, are all about resilience, in business and in life. They’re about how I ate shit, digested it, learned from my failures, and succeeded in spite of it all — or maybe because of it.
